Seth and Finn come to blows at Fastlane during The Shield vs. Seth Rollins - WWE Intercontinental Championship Cena wins after an emotional bout, and Angle leads the audience in one last you suck chant before riding off into the sunset. Angle then announces that he chooses Cena as his last opponent, and the ,arch is made. Cena comes down and Angle asks “what’ve you got?” Cena responds with “Ruthless Aggression.” And then punches him like he did 17 years ago. Angle enters late enough and clears the ring before #30 comes out, and it’s John Cena. He has a match with Rey Mysterio, faces AJ Styles, faces Samoa Joe, but his most notable comes in the Royal Rumble match itself.

He does one last Survivor Series 5-on-5, he wrestles one last Royal Rumble, and faces some of his greatest rivals. John Cena - Kurt Angle’s Farewell MatchĪngle goes on a Retirement Tour after announcing in late 2018 that he will wrestle his last match at next years WrestleMania. She attacks Asuka after her defence against Mandy Rose and says she’s beaten her once, she can do it again, and a rematch is set between the two. Becky defeats her and Lynch/Rousey is official, while Charlotte then goes off to SmackDown. Asuka - SmackDown Women’s ChampionshipĬharlotte gets pissy after the Royal Rumble she lost to someone not in the match, and gets a match with Becky for Elimination Chamber where the winner gets the Royal Rumble winners rights. Joe retains after everyone take themselves out in an insane match. The other feuds on Raw between Gable/Roode and AJ/Orton get in the mix, and it’s decided they’re all wrestle for Joe’s United States Championship in a Ladder Match. Chad Gable - Ladder Match for the WWE United States ChampionshipĪt Fastlane we see a Fatal 4-Way between Joe, Rey, Andrade and R-Truth end with Joe winning, but these four continue fueding heading into WrestleMania. The champions win and everyone hug it out afterwards. That’s when Sasha and Bayley come out to accept. Weeks later an advertised appearance from Trish Stratus and Lita see them request to wrestle their final match at WrestleMania, and they want to take on a different women’s tag team. Trish Stratus and Lita - Women’s Tag Team Championshipsīayley pulls double duty on Elimination Chamber, losing to a retaining Ronda Rousey in the opener, before later in the evening she and Sasha win the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Championships. They challenge The Usos for their SmackDown Tag Team Championships and are successful. He’s fallen off since losing his WWE Championship to Daniel Bryan, and that is when Sami Zayn comes in, since he’s the man who’s he’s fought over the years, he’s the man who truly connects with him most in WWE. Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura - SmackDown Tag Team ChampionshipsĪfter losing to “The Demon” Finn Bálor at the Royal Rumble, Nakamura starts to pick up more losses. They face here, opening the show after interrupting Hulk Hogan and Alexa Bliss’ segment. He wins that and Brock then takes time off, before returning in the Royal Rumble to win it. Paul then becomes his advocate, and he faces Brock once again inside Hell in a Cell at the namesake PPV. Brock Lesnar - Universal ChampionshipĪt SummerSlam, Bobby Lashley cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase to defeat Brock for the title with the help of Paul Heyman.
Babyface win for the Pre-Show as The Kings of Wrestling win after Cesaro manages to lift Big Show up for a crazy spot. They then cut a promo saying no one can step up to them, when Cesaro comes out, and brings out an old friend of his - Kassius Ohno. Sheamus then moves over to Raw where he and Big Show win the Raw Tag Team Championships. The Kings of Wrestling (Cesaro and Kassius Ohno) - Raw Tag Team Championshipsīig Show drives a wedge within in The Bar, leading to them breaking up after losing their SmackDown Tag Team Championships. To begin, a quick version of my WrestleMania 35 card: It could have been a whole lot better though, and so I am here to try and make it that. Shane McMahon as the heel authority figure, the Wildcard Rule, and Saudi Arabia soured the taste of fans mouths, but despite this the show wasn’t that bad. It was the culmination of the quite poor summer WWE had in 2019 coming off the back of their hot start to the year on The Road to WrestleMania. SummerSlam 2019 was, an interesting show.
